As the only Chinese design consultancy working for the largest airplane manufacturer since 2011, YANG DESIGN has conducted studies on Chinese consumer insight, user experience, trends and brand identity, and developed innovative interior design concepts. The projects have been extremely well received by the American headquarters.
The project focused on emerging consumer needs, and provided innovative yet reasonable solutions. It was rated as the most successful project within China R&D. Some details are still confidential.

YANG DESIGN CMF LAB has analyzed car body colors of different models in Chinese market and combined qualitative and quantitative user research to design a new generation system of car body colors for Hyundai. This provides guidance to the new car model color panning, prototype and manufacturing in the future. Now through Hyundai official website, distribution channels, consumers can access to all car models which adopted the new color system.

本项目定性研究中国一二线城市的8090后车主的生活形态,预测未来5年内的小型车用车需求,并转化成为影响车型构架的创新设计机会点。 The project consisted in a qualitative study about the lifestyle of Post 80s and 90s drivers. We predicted the trend for compact car in 5 years, and translated it into design opportunities for a new car body.

How can luxury brands win Chinese consumers via design? This design report goes into Chinese culture and society, and analyzes the luxury design preferred by Chinese consumers through marketing and product design. It became a reference of the next generation of car interior design.

YANG DESIGN受顶级国际商旅用品奢华品牌TUMI委托设计的“旅行的箱车”亮相香港,并在亚太区不同地区巡展。
YANG DESIGN为满足高速移动的现代社会的用户需要,提出“旅行的箱车”创意概念:谁说旅行箱只能收纳物件,外出拖带旅行?每次旅行筋疲力尽时旅行箱总会成为一个累赘?“旅行的箱车”将彻底改变这个局面,它在保持旅行箱基本功能的基础上,在箱体内外配置动力马达并增加滑轮,将其改造成一款可以坐立并且移动的座驾。
旅行箱自带RFID射频芯片,机场管理人员可监控乘客流量和测量行李重量,跟踪行李去向;乘客也可以接受航空公司和机场发出的航班提醒信息,并减少随身行李丢失。此外,旅行的箱车侧面有通用的充电插口,其蓄电池也能为乘客的手机、电脑等移动设备提供临时充电服务。
Recently, YANG DESIGN is commissioned by TUMI, the world's leading brand of luxury travel, business and lifestyle accessories, to design an innovative product called Travel Suitcase To-go. The design is exhibited in Hong Kong and East Asia.
To address the growing user demand of mobility in our world, the team has proposed a creative concept that combines the suitcase with external motor and wheel. The suitcase is therefore no longer a burden for travelers, but a mobile transportation means for both sitting and standing drivers.
Based on NFC(Near Field Communication) technology, the suitcase is embedded with RFID chips, so that ground administration managers can monitor the flow of passenger, detect weight of the luggage and track the luggage. Passenger can receive notice from airlines and ground, and reduce the risk of losing hand luggage. Besides, the suitcase is equipped with charging socket, and the battery can provide temporary charging solution to passengers’ mobile devices such as cellphone and laptops.

该方案主要将车轮加大并且改为中空式,这样不不仅能减轻车身重量,而且能成为提手。车轮上有LED灯光效果,为了在夜间行驶时有指示作用。整体踏板高度降低,踏板面积增大,让用户使用产品是更有安全感。中间部为控制区域,一些关键信息都在此呈现,让用户一目了然。踏板上添加了硅胶垫,更好的拥有防滑作用。

筒状背包上方开口可抽拉打开,可放入体量较大的物件,内部分隔成不同的功能区块。正面纵向壳体边缘隐藏着两个小型储存空间,拉开拉链可放置小型物件。
The backpack can be opened in pulling-out way from the top and put in big-size stuff, partition off to different function inside. Two small storage spaces are hidden at vertical front shell body and can be unzipped for placing small stuff.

2010YANG DESIGN为全球知名汽车品牌奥迪设计了全球第1款2合1眼镜设计。颠覆传统眼镜的创新框架结构,内设一片可上下旋转的“Y”字形鼻托,因而可整体180度翻转,适合正反两种佩戴方式。太阳眼镜分为上下两块镜片,分别利用两种不同颜色的涂层,以适合两种不同的天气,实现一种全新的用户体验:茶色镜片最适用于驾车时使用;镜面镀膜的水银镜片则更多地吸收与反射可见光,适合户外运动。该产品至今通过实体店和网络销售。In 2010, YANG DESIGN developed the 1st 2-in-1 eyewear in the world of Audi. The brown lens is for driving and the silver lens for outdoor sports. The product is being sold online and in stores since then.

Olly是为了对旧自行车进行再利用而设计的配件,旨在改善以老人为主的用户的使用体验。形似购物车,但是可以轻松地安装到自行车上,取代原来的前轮。内置座位可供老人们接送孩子上下学。还有防雨布,可抵御恶劣天气。购物时也可将其拆下单独用于储物,避免了手提重物的劳累。

In China, not only the elderly in prefer doing groceries on their own, they also like to keep their role of caretakers for their grand-children, picking them up at school and taking care of them while parents are busy at work (a long-time practice in China). Their vehicle of choice is the bicycle, but it's far from perfect. Olly is a multifunctional bicycle attachment designed specifically for the elderly to greatly improve their shopping and kid pick-up activities. Olly is essentially a special trolley that replaces the front wheel, providing better stability; plus, it can be easily detached and used independently, for instance to neatly organize and transport groceries, making the bicycle less appealing to thieves (since the front will is missing). It also features a rain cover and a removable seat.
